BREAST IMPLANTS

Confidence. Contour. Completely you.

“Breast augmentation, when done right, doesn't change a woman — it reveals her confidence, restores her proportions, and becomes part of her identity, not an addition to it.”

- Dr. Parag Mahadik

What is Breast Augmentation?

It’s one of the most popular Cosmetic surgeries for a reason—it has the power to be truly transformative. With our Mumbai Cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Parag Mahadik’s expertise and careful attention to detail, your results will feel balanced, natural, and in harmony with your body shape.

Breast augmentation is a surgical procedure designed to enhance breast size, restore lost volume, or improve symmetry. The implants can be placed either under the breast tissue or beneath the chest muscle—this decision depends on your unique anatomy and the look you’re hoping to achieve.

The entire process is completely customizable. From the type, size, and shape of the implant to where the incision is made and how the implant is positioned, every choice is guided by your anatomy and personal goals.

  • Boost self-confidence and body image.

AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR BREAST AUGMENTATION?

You may be a great candidate for breast augmentation if:
1. You are physically healthy and not currently pregnant or breastfeeding.
2. You have fully developed breasts but want to change their size, shape, or symmetry.
3. You’ve lost volume due to ageing, pregnancy, or weight loss.
4. You feel self-conscious about your breast appearance, and want a change and a new look.
5. You have realistic expectations and are seeking improvement, not perfection.

Most importantly, this is a decision you are making for yourself. If you’re doing this to feel better in your body — not because someone else expects it — you’re on the right path.

YOUR BREAST AUGMENTATION PROCEDURE

Breast augmentation surgery typically takes about 1 to 2 hours and is performed under general anesthesia. You’ll go home the same day with a customized support bra and a detailed aftercare plan to ensure a smooth recovery.

Incision Placement
Our Cosmetic surgeon, Dr Mahadik will carefully choose the best incision site for you based on your anatomy, implant type, and personal preference. The goal is always to make scars as discreet as possible. Here are the three most common options:
1.Inframammary (under the breast fold): This is the most popular choice because the scar is well-hidden in the natural crease beneath the breast.
2.Periareolar (around the lower edge of the areola): The incision blends into the pigmented skin around your nipple, making it nearly invisible.
3.Transaxillary (in the armpit): For women who prefer no scarring on the breast itself, this option places the incision in the armpit.
Every incision is made with precision to minimize scarring, and over time, the marks fade significantly.

Creating the Implant Pocket
Once the incision is made, Dr. Mahadik creates a pocket where the implant will sit. The placement depends on your body type and goals:
1.Submuscular (under the chest muscle): Ideal for thinner women, this placement provides a softer, more natural slope. It also reduces the risk of visible rippling and makes mammograms easier to perform.
2.Subglandular (above the muscle): This is often used when there’s more natural breast tissue available. Recovery tends to be quicker, and it can create more defined cleavage.
3.Dual-plane technique: A hybrid approach—part of the implant sits under the muscle, while the lower part rests above it. This offers the best of both worlds: a natural shape with excellent support.

Implant Placement
Once the implants are perfectly positioned, the incisions are closed with dissolvable sutures placed in multiple layers to promote optimal healing. A soft dressing and a supportive post-op bra are applied to help maintain your new shape and provide comfort during recovery.

After a brief stay in recovery, you’ll be discharged with clear instructions and follow-up support to guide you through the healing process.

Closure and Dressing
Dr. Mahadik uses either round or anatomical (teardrop-shaped) implants in various profiles (low, moderate, high, ultra-high) to match your desired volume and look. Modern cohesive gel implants are soft, safe, and designed to mimic the feel of natural breast tissue.

The implants are carefully inserted and adjusted to ensure they sit symmetrically and smoothly, creating a balanced and natural appearance. These advanced implants can even be folded to fit through small incisions before expanding into their final shape.

RECOVERY AND RISKS FOR BREAST AUGMENTATION

For a breast implants, the recovery is very manageable for most patients.

  • Week 1: Most women can return to desk jobs
  • Weeks 2–4: Light activity can resume
  • Weeks 4–6: Strenuous workouts and lifting can slowly restart
  • 3–6 months: Final shape settles as the implants “drop and fluff”

With his extensive expertise, Dr. Parag Mahadik will guide you through gentle scar care, massage techniques, and support bra use.

Rare side effects:

  • Bleeding or infection
  • Poor scarring or delayed healing
  • Loss of nipple sensation (temporary or permanent)

Specific side effects:

  • Capsular contracture (hardening around the implant)
  • Rippling, malposition, or asymmetry

YOUR BREAST AUGMENTATION RESULTS

The full results of breast augmentation don’t appear overnight—they unfold gradually over 3 to 6 months as swelling subsides and the implants settle into their natural position. It’s a process, but every step brings you closer to feeling like the best version of yourself.

Fuller, more youthful contours: Your breasts will take on a softer, more balanced shape that complements your body. This new shape often feels more proportionate, enhancing your natural silhouette in a way that looks and feels more harmonious with your frame.

Better body balance and posture: With improved proportions, many women find they naturally stand taller and feel more confident in their stance. The balance provided by the augmentation can lead to subtle but powerful shifts in posture and overall presence.

Improved symmetry in and out of clothes: Whether you’re wearing a swimsuit or a sweater, your new silhouette will look harmonious and natural. Many women describe feeling more self-assured—both personally and professionally. It’s not just about how you look; it’s about how you feel.

Frequently Asked Questions

Breast implants that Esmee Clinic uses are made of silicone. There is no evidence that silicone implants cause any disease in the body.
Silicone is derived from the naturally occurring substance, silicon. Silicon is a metal-like element that reacts with oxygen to become the most common substance on earth, silica. From beach sand to crystals, silica exists on the earth naturally. With intense heat and carbon, silica becomes silicon, which then can be further processed to become silicone. It is commonly used in lubricants and oils, such as polishes, body lotions, soaps, processed foods, chewing gum, and waterproof coating.
Breast implants do not interfere in breast self/clinical examination in any way. You should inform the doctor about your implants before doing mammograms so they can take additional views to see as much of the breast tissue as possible. You may need an experienced radiologist with this.
Breast Implants do not interfere with pregnancy. Your breasts will enlarge duringpregnancy like other bodily changes.
Any skin cut heals with a scar. We hide the scars in skin folds and by meticulous suturing techniques. In most women scars are inconspicuous. You should speak to your surgeon if you have a tendency for hypertrophic scars or keloids.
They last for many years, depending on what age you have them put in. This is because even if the implant stays the same, your breast tissue keeps on changing as you age. So an implant done at 20 years of age looks very different when you are post-pregnancy 40 Years. Majority will likely need to be replaced eventually and about 1% to 2% of breast implants break or deflate each year.
No, there isn’t.
Unfortunately, breast implants do not come in cup sizes. They come in volumes of the gel inside. Out of the several reasons the important ones are 1) C-cup from one bra manufacturer is not necessarily the same as a C-cup from another manufacturer. 2 ) Final cup size will be partially determined by the preoperative breast size, and every patient is different in this aspect. However, it can be expected that a B-cup implant size is approximately 250g (cc) and a C-cup is 330cc in a woman of average height and average build. That number will be higher if the woman is tall or has broad shoulders. Similarly, if the patient is shorter than average or has a narrower chest, that number can be expected to be slightly lower.
